Never thought this would happen with my (almost) 5 year old

7 11 2011

I am playing a Genius playlist on my Itunes and “My love” by Sia came on from the The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack. Melia sees the Album artwork and this is the conversation we had…

Melia: Mom, what is this song?
Me: My Love by Sia.
Melia: Where is it from?
Me: A movie called Eclipse. It is about vampires.
Melia: Is that guy with white skin the vampire?
Me: Yup. His name is Edward.
Melia: Who are the other people?
Me: The boy with dark hair is Jacob. He is a werewolf.
Melia: A werewolf and a vampire!!! What?! Who is the girl?
Me: Her name is Bella. She is in love with the vampire, Edward.
Melia: WHAT?! How is she in love with a vampire? I have NEVER heard of a person loving a vampire.

A minute passes…
Melia: That is why this singer keeps singing “My love”… for the vampire??
Me: Yes, sure Melia…
(I just started laughing)

Melia: Well what does the werewolf do?
Me: He is best friends with Bella, the girl.
Melia: No way! Why does the girl love the vampire and not the werewolf? Mom, is this movie good? Can I watch it?
Me: Melia, it is a book and it was made into a movie… you will be able to watch it eventually…

Picture overload to come soon…

20 09 2011

This funny thing happened before we went to Disneyland this year… We bought a different memory card for our camera which made it possible to have more than 50 pictures on the camera at one time. This has not been good for me! I keep putting off uploading my pictures because I have more room on my camera so I never felt it to be a need. Until I looked through those photos the other day that are on my camera. All the way back to events in MAY! Ridiculous, Kim! So here we go, I will be posting a LOT of pictures soon. Maybe even some videos of Melia in her dance camps :)

McKenzie was right!

9 09 2011

Most of you already know due to the world of text messages and Facebook, but I figured I would put on here for all who read our blog.

We had our ultrasound yesterday for the baby and found out that the baby is a GIRL!

We are so excited to have another little girl join our family. She was very stubborn and was moving SO much that the ultrasound tech couldn’t really get everything she wanted to see. The US tech would almost get the picture of what she needed and then baby would start moving again. Because of that, we now get to see our baby girl again in about 4 weeks. Everything looked great on her and she is developing well.

For the first time, we don’t know exactly what the name is going to be. We are going back and forth. One name that is being thrown around is Brie.

Well that is our news. :) Baby Girl to come on or around January 21st, 2012.

Family Pictures and some other news :)

31 08 2011

I know I am a total slacker on this whole blog thing, hopefully I can do better in the coming months. I want to start by putting on here that we are pregnant with baby #3! :) We are so excited about it and the girls are battling it out about what this baby will be. Melia wants it to be a boy, but McKenzie is adamant that it is a girl. We find out in 6 days, on September 6th! The due date is January 21st and so that puts me at 19 1/2 weeks right now. Why don’t you vote for what you think this baby is going to be?

We also went and had family pictures done yesterday by a great photographer, Cassandra Sasse. It was a lot of fun and the baby bump is definitely starting.

You can go to her blog here to check out some of the pictures. http://cassandrasassephotography.com/blog/2011/08/perry-family-family-portraits-in-and-around-vancouver-washington/

Day 23: Blog Challenge

6 05 2011

Day 23 – 15 facts about you.

1. I have never dyed my hair… not even highlights. Every hair dresser I have had has asked me that question.

2. I don’t mind the feelings of I.V.’s. I actually think it feels really cool. Gross, I know…

3. I would choose labor and delivery of a child any day over the whole 9 months of pregnancy…especially the last month. And I don’t even have bad pregnancies.

4. I finished the Leavenworth Half Marathon last October in 2 hours and 47 minutes… It was my first… next one in July.

5. Since Treven and I have been married, we have lived in 8 different apartments/homes… ridiculous… I am ready to have my own home. Sick of moving!

6. I have eaten a meal-worm. It was cooked… just tasted like popcorn kernels and yes, it was for extra credit in Biology.

7. The only countries outside of the U.S. that I have been to are Mexico and Aruba. Mexico doesn’t really count since it was Tijuana. I would love to travel to Europe or Brazil!

8. I am in love with the White Gummi Bear Jamba Juice… It is on their secret menu. Thank you Heather for telling me about it!

9. I paint my toenails, but not my fingernails.

10. I do not have any allergies.

11. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Physical Education.

12. I started a preschool with my great friend, Amy, in March and it was the best decision I have made. I love being able to be with my girls!

13. I love how clean Listerine makes my mouth feel.

14. I wore glasses and contacts in Elementary/Middle School, but was told the contacts corrected my vision so I didn’t need to wear them… but sadly I believe I need to get them again.

15. I love my TOMS! They are so comfy. :)

Lil’ Update

4 05 2011

Figured I haven’t updated the blog about the Perry family’s life in a while…

Treven- Working hard to finish out this semester. He has one final left, which is tomorrow, then he has an easy summer. He only has 5 more classes left for his bachelor’s but not all five are offered during the summer or fall so he has to split them up between the two. This summer will be pretty relaxed for school. :) As far as work, he is working hard and going to be put into a lead position soon and hopefully from there be placed in management. He is a little frustrated at work right now, but he is still working hard. Treven joined a softball team with some of his coworkers and his first game is tonight, but unfortunately he can’t make it due to work. He is turning 28 at the end of this month and always frowns when I remind him. He isn’t even 30 yet!

Kim- Our “Tiny Peas Preschool” has now been open for 2 months and we have a total of 8 kids enrolled out of the 20 spots we have available, which is great for just starting out and the time of year it is. We are getting our name out there and hopefully when fall comes around we will have more kids. :) All of the kids come on Tuesday/Thursday right now, so it has been nice to only work twice a week and be able to do things with the girls at other times. I am training for a half marathon on July 4th and I am definitely looking forward to summer! Today is 70 degrees outside and the girls and I are trying to soak as much sun up as possible. I have had so much fun being able to go hang out with my sister, Marnie, in Portland and be able to explore downtown Portland. The girls love going to Aunt Marnie’s house and playing on the playground near by.

Melia- She really wants to go to kindergarten next year, but unfortunately due to the cut off she will not be able to until 2012. Even the test that she could take to test into kindergarten doesn’t work out. You have to be 5 by October 15th in order to test in. She misses it by 3 weeks. Oh well! It will be better for her. :) McKenzie and she are doing swim lessons, which today is the last day of this session, but she has grown so much in the 4 weeks that they have been in them. She will go under the water all the way and just walk around. Melia gets to move up to the next class when we sign her up for the next session which I am definitely doing with Lake Shasta coming in August. When Melia talks to you, you will hear her say the word “actually” a lot. She likes to use it to correct her. She is turning into such a little girl and I am surprised at some of the things she says. She has an incredible memory and will sing songs that she has only heard once before. Her artistic ability is amazing to me and she loves to create different artwork with cutting, gluing, markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc. She loves it all! Her friend Elyse joined our school and Melia is loving having her there.

McKenzie- Man! This girl is so expressive with everything she does. She is so determined everyday to convince me that she is 3 not 2…. I have to remind her that she will be 3 in July. She still tries to argue with me. She makes me laugh and want to scream all in one day. She is so loving and loves to have Melia as a big sister. It is so great to watch them play together. We have been doing the parent/toddler swim class since she is not 3 yet, but they told me on Monday that she is ready to advance to the pre-beginner class where I won’t have to be in the pool with her. I am trying to help her to be excited about it and tell her that now she gets to go to the “big girl” swim class and she is becoming excited about. She really loves swim lessons and she knows when we are supposed to be going because she will remind me constantly. McKenzie LOVES to play with her friend, Maddie, who is 3 1/2. Maddie attends our school as well and our family absolutely loves the Wallingfords. They are an awesome family. It is so great to have the girls find such a great friend to play with.

This may be all jumbled together, but it is what I could come up with right now. Easter pictures to come soon.

Day 22: Blog Challenge

4 05 2011

Okay, I officially did fail at the blog challenge since I did not continue doing it on a daily basis, but now I am back and determined to do so.

So here is Day 22 (which I changed to “5 pet peeves” from “A letter to someone who has hurt you recently”)

1. People ignoring me when I am talking to them. Really gets on my nerves, maybe because I am the youngest of 7. HAHA
2. Nails on a chalkboard or any sounds similar
3. This one is from the beginning of our marriage and I broke this habit of Treven’s, but it definitely still is a pet peeve. Hanging socks on the top of doors… yes, you read that correctly.
4. Toilet paper that is on the roll the wrong way. Over the top, people!
5. New one, which I am going to put down because it drives me nuts, when Melia is cutting paper and leaves the tiniest pieces of paper EVERYWHERE!!

That’s five. :)
